Pranakrishna Mahavidyalaya is situated at Baitarani Road(Barundei), a place 12Kms away from Jajpur Road by Railway and 10Kms from Panikoili (Nearest bus stop in NH-5 is Sathipur).

To fulfill the long cherished desire of the people of Korai Constituency for a college at Baitarani Road a great social worker of the locality, Dinabandhu Patri, Ex-M.P. Sri Ramachandra Mallick, Dr. Bhagaban Charan Mohanty,Sri Purna Chandra Mohapatra and Youngsters like Sri Abhimanyu Mohapatra,Sri Keshaba Chandra Parida and Sri Gopal Ghosh etc. Came forward and tried their best to cherish the desire. A meeting was organized under the Presidentship of Sri Ramachandra Mallick, the then M.P.to bring the kind attention of Sri Pranakrishna Satapathy, the donor of the college. However the then Sarapanchas of Korai Constituency contributed much for such a noble cause. However, the college moved forwarded with registration under Society Act,under the strong leadership of Ashok Das, the then M.L.A(Korai).

The Proposed college faced a problem of depositing Rupees One Lakh for getting Affiliation from the University and Recognisation from the Government of Odisha. In such a crucial period, Sri Purna Chandra Mohapatra and Sri Rama Chandra Mallick requested to Sri Pranakrishna Satapathy for funds. However funds was arranged by the month of October,1983 and Sri Pranakrishna Satapathy became the donor of the college and a life member to the Governing Body through the resolution of the Governing Body on 30.10.83, in its 23rd Sitting.

In the initial stage the role played by Sri Abhimanyu Mohapatra and Sri Keshab Chandra Parida to setup a college is significant and worth remembering .Most of the time they are seen on the college ground for the all-round development of the college. The Ex-President Dr.Bhagaban Charan Mohanty extends his helping hand and timely advice for the development of this college.

To a large extent, Late Dinabandhu Patri contributes his valuable time to give a concrete shape of the college. He travelled not only in this Panchayat but also the peripheral panchayats and collected funds from the public for the establishment of this college.

With the passage of time,the college finds MP grants Rs.4,00,000/-(Four Lakhs) from M.P. Sri Rama Chandra Khuntia.Today the college is running with +2 Arts,+2 Commerce and +3 Arts. Steps have been taken for the opening of +2 Science. However, the +3 Arts degree is running with History (H) and political science(H).

It is a matter of pleasure that the college has been a centre of learning of the students of three districts namely Bhadrak,Keonjhar and Jajpur as it is the junction of the three districts.

Rs.20,00,000/-(Rupees Twenty Lakh from Hon'ble M.P.Sri Baishnab Charan Parida,Hon'ble M.P.Rajyasabha, Smt.Sanchita Mohanty Hon'ble Ex M.L.A,Korai an amount of Rs.2,00,000/- is an amount of Rs.7 Lakhs 60thousand from Hon'ble President and Ex-M.L.A, Korai, Present M.L.A Sukinda Hon'ble Sj.Pritiranjan Ghadai. Present M.P.Loksabha Smt.Rita Tarai has given Five Lakhs. Above all at Present Sj Akash DasNayak Hon'ble M.L.A,Korai is always extending his helping hand for the progress of this college.
